Here is a close-up of the beading detail in the corners - you can see the beads in the box stitches as well as on the border, in the flower centers and on the bird cage:

January Bead Journal Project piece... I have a design, the fabric and the beads picked out. Just a matter of getting up the motivation to mess with that tiny needle eye and those pesky beads!

Leslie, I've been stitching since graduate school, in the mid-1960's. Started out with crewel, graduated to needlepoint in the late 60's, and took up cross-stitch in the late seventies when I was flying a lot for business and needlepoint was too awkward to carry on the plane! Beading, except for the odd embellishment on cross-stitch, is a new thing for me --- last year's BJP was my first attempt! delete replyleslieannapa wrote on Jan 18, '11Carol, Well, I don't feel like the odd woman out, being new at this. I'm a totally retired teacher! I was a department head and instructor at a community college (biological sciences - I taught pre-med, pre-nursing and EMT classes in anatomy, microbiology and the line!) until 1992 when my husband was transferred to London and I became a full-time semi-pro tourist! Spent the next ten years as an expat (4 in England, 2 in Beijing, China and 4 in Eastern Saudi Arabia) before returning to Ohio because hubby was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Been here ever since!
